A former Metropolitan Police officer who lied during the Wayne Couzens flashing investigation said she received hatemail in the wake of Sarah Everard’s death.
Samantha Lee, 29, was found guilty of gross misconduct after an investigation into the Wayne Couzens case found she failed to make “the correct investigative inquiries” over two incidents when the then serving officer exposed himself to two members of staff at a McDonald’s branch.
Lee is said to have attended the restaurant just hours before Sarah Everard was kidnapped and murdered in Clapham, south-west London. She then lied and claimed she believed the CCTV was automatically deleted and would not show Couzens in the restaurant.
A hearing panel found this dishonesty amounted to gross misconduct, and Lee would have been dismissed from the force if she were a serving officer. The restaurant manager told the panel he showed Lee the CCTV footage and said it could be downloaded onto a USB stick.

The former officer denied this was the case. The miscoduct panel found the “pressure” of the Couzens investigation led Lee to dishonesty.
Giving evidence to the hearing, Lee admitted making errors but said nothing she could have done “would have changed the tragic outcome” of what happened to Sarah Everard later that day.
Lee, who went by the moniker Officer Naughty on OnlyFans, has now shared some of the hatemail she received in the wake of the incident. Speaking to BBC Newsnight, she said: “I have been receiving messages saying that I have blood on my hands.
“I have pretty much been blamed completely for the horrendous murder of Sarah Everard. And some of the messages are quite horrendous.”
During an interview, Lee read out one of the messages she had received. It states: “You are kinda [sic] disgusting, you are a typical fat white girl.
“And to see what you looked like considering what you look like, considering what your low life ass did. Too bad it wasn’t you that your co-worker kidnapped and killed.”
Lee went on to say this message had been reported to the authorities for mentioning race as well as implications about kidnap and murder.
She added: “That was reported to the police. But I have had so many messages of hate and it’s my fault. They get quite personal as well.
“I can deal with being called names and all sorts of things but being blamed for something so horrendous when the only person that should be being blamed for that awful, awful, horrendous crime that actually went on and took place is Wayne Couzens himself.
“No one else did that, that was him. To be tarred with the same brush is a horrendous feeling.”
After the ruling she said she had been made a “scapegoat” and says she feels she has been “thrown under the bus”.
She said at the time: “I am a young female Pc and I am the only person who has faced any disciplinary action in relation to this. There is only one person who is responsible for everything that happened and that is Wayne Couzens.
“I have never lied.”
In March this year, Couzens was sentenced to 19 months in prison after admitting three counts of indecent exposure.
He was already serving a whole life sentence behind bars for kidnapping Ms Everard as she walked home through Clapham, south London, in March 2021 and then murdering her.
